What is a Vedic birth chart?
A Vedic birth chart (also called a Jataka or Kundali) is a map of the sky at the exact moment you were born. It records which zodiac sign each planet occupied, which Nakshatra (lunar mansion) the Moon was passing through, and which sign was rising on the eastern horizon. In the Tamil tradition, this chart is drawn as a square divided into twelve houses.
Because Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, your chart reflects the actual positions of the constellations rather than the season-based divisions used in Western astrology.
