What Rasi & Rise is

Rasi & Rise is a free Tamil Vedic astrology site. It computes your birth chart, daily timings, and auspicious dates from the real positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets at the moment you were born, using the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa and the Thirukkanitha (drik ganita) method standard in Tamil practice. There is no account, no app to install, and no advertising. Your birth details are used for the calculation and then discarded.

What you can calculate

  • Birth chart: your Rasi (Moon sign), Nakshatra (birth star), Lagna (rising sign), planetary positions, Rasi and Navamsa kattams, and Vimshottari Dasha timeline.
  • Marriage matching: the traditional Tamil 10 Porutham comparison of two birth charts, including Rajju and Dina.
  • Rasi calculator: your Vedic Moon sign with its Tamil name, ruler, and element.
  • Nakshatra calculator: your birth star, pada, ruling planet, and deity.
  • Auspicious date finder: scores for weddings, housewarmings, travel, and other events on upcoming dates.
  • Today's Panchangam: Rahu Kalam, Yamagandam, Gulikai Kalam, Abhijit Muhurtham, sunrise, and sunset for your city.

How it is calculated

Every result starts from an astronomical ephemeris rather than lookup tables, so two people born minutes apart in different cities get different charts. The methodology page explains the ayanamsa, the house system, and the precision limits of each calculation.
